Counting Down

Well, now that the Olympics are over I thought I could breathe a bit.  I thought I was going to be able to go to sleep before 1 a.m., but I picked up The Other Boleyn Girl at the Goodwill the other day and I cannot put it down.  It is a fictional take on the historical tale of Anne Boleyn (Henry VIII's 2nd wife) through the point of view of her sister Mary.  Very good...I highly recommend it.  Good book, but I'm still tired.

We're counting down the days until school starts!  I cannot believe Sumner will be in KINDERGARTEN, people.  Bebe will be going into 3rd grade.  That seems crazy by itself, but she's my first kid and I'm kinda used to her moving on to new things.  Sumner is my first baby.  He's always smaller than Bebe no matter what.  He's not supposed to move on!  He carried the same little Pottery Barn Kids green backpack and green lunchbox for 3 years at preschool and it was just so little that I got him a new backpack and lunchbox.  The whole of his 4 year preschool days he asked for the PBKids Batman lunchbox..."just like Parker has, Momma.  Please?!"  And I said no.  But I have a surprise for his first day...A Batman lunchbox... just like Parker...complete with a Batman thermos!  I hope he'll be pleased.  I can't wait to see his face.

The other weekend I pulled out ALL of the kids' winter clothes and tried on every shirt, pair of pants, sweater, pj set, turtleneck, etc. to see what would fit, what would hand down, and what I would send to Goodwill or the trash.  It  pretty much took 5 hours.  Bebe had the most to go through...girls *head shake with eye roll*.  It looks like we're set for most of the year.  We're a little short on socks for the boys, but that will be remedied by good ol' Santa!  And the Sass...she looks like a little boy with her new hand-me-down pj collection! ha ha

Anyway, due to my extraordinary hoarding capabilities I had a lot of the kids school supplies in my garage.  I had to buy a couple of folders, some paper, and dry erase markers...not too bad.  I bought some lysol wipes, and a cute notepad for their teachers.  So we're pretty much set in the back-to-school department.  Now, we're just counting down the days...10 to go!
