An End-of-Summer Beach Vacation

I have so much to tell about and have no time to sit and write!  So, with 3 little ones underkeyboard underfoot I will try to give some updates.  I didn't blog at all last week because we were at the BEACH!  I love, love, love the beach!  We had a great time.  We played on the beach everyday...jumping the waves and yelling, "Calcutta" (it's a family thing), digging huge holes to play in, making sandcastles, looking for shells, hitting a few baseballs, taking walks on the beach, catching a crab or two, eating and drinking till we pop, running around like crazy people, flying kites, swimming in the pool, etc.  We had a few monsoon moments, but we made the most of them by reading a bit, taking naps, or playing checkers or chess (Sumner and PawPaw), and we even popped over to an adjacent island to visit a little children's museum with cute exhibits and a touch tank.  Off the beach we indulged in shrimp, shrimp, butter, and more shrimp!  We visited the pier where the boys got to touch a couple of baby sharks before they were tossed back in the ocean.  We of course played a round of miniature golf...if that's what you would call it.  It was more like duck and take cover and then after finding the ball in the bushes hit it 10 times until it went in the hole.  Somehow we came out of there unscathed!  We also visited the water slide.  This was Sawyer's first visit to the water slide and after an hour of saying he WOULD NOT DO IT and DID NOT LIKE IT...he did it and loved it!  Typical.  Overall, we spoiled ourselves rotten and it sure was tough to come home and back to school!  But after a good summer we're ready for a little routine!  More on our first days of school coming up!  Again, there's another reason for lack of blogging...school started this week!

Sawyer going down the big slide with Daddy and big brother waiting at the bottom.

A beautiful sunset walk on the pier.  This pic does not do the sunset any justice...it was heavenly.

Doin' a little digging.

Kicking at the waves with Daddy...probably their favorite thing to do!  Calcutta!

Baywatch!

Relaxing with a good book.  A girl after my own heart.

There are no words...

Sitting with my little bitties...looking for "diggers" (coquina shells) and building "drizzle castles".

Working with the big bros.

Snack time...attacking an apple.
She will eat the whole thing...core and all if you don't carefully supervise!
