This Weekend

What's interesting is that this weekend has been anything but interesting.  It was calm for a change.  Several times I, or those around me, said...we're in no rush or we're not going anywhere today.  Phrases that are not spoken very often 'round here.

With no school for nearly a week, most of the friends I know are going nuts with cabin fever.  And I think...it's a little slow, but I'm not dying to get out of the house or away from my kids.  I don't know what that says about me...good?  or bad?   That being said...I am a little glad for the routine that Monday and a full school day will bring.

This weekend we hung out a lot.  I still grieved over the Tarheel loss from Wednesday night.  I want to hit rewind and tell PJ Tokoto to drive the ball...no jumpshot.  But oh well...we will see you again evil Dookies...we will see you again!

Saturday I took Bebe to volleyball practice and then home again.  Jason worked on 5,000emails pertaining to his baseball dictatorship director position.  Kidding.  He put in about 10 hours for it.  It's his first season and he is charge of not only our league, but our competitors leagues as well.  So it's big.  And he wants to do a good job.  Wee bit stressful right now.  I did a lot of cleaning up...laundry, bathrooms, closets, toy reassessment*, etc.

Nana and PawPaw took Bebe (and her shopping list) out and about to buy a robe and slippers and a horse necklace. She's very proud of it and wore it all day Sunday.  Then we met them out for a rip roarin' time at the gourmet diner of Golden Corral.  It always kind of gives you the shivers going in there, but each time I go I pray a little harder for the Lord to bless my food to the nourishment of our bodies!  And I bring extra hand sanitizer.  We headed home to chill out, while Bebe headed by herself to Nana's for a sleepover.

Sunday we headed to church and basked in the 41 degree no wind weather.  After several DAYS of below 32, or even 18, this seemed like a dream!  Church was good.  It was about complainers and that it was okay to complain, even to God, the right way.  If you wanna know more you'll have to call me...I can't type it all out.  It's funny though, whenever one of the preachers says that you don't pray this way...for example...don't complain to God about not winning the lottery...it is ALWAYS exactly the stuff I say! ha  ha
Anyway, I'm not the only one!  At our brunch at IHOP afterwards Nana said she was always the "don't example" too!  Or maybe she was just trying to make me feel better!

So after brunch I've piddled around the house doing a bit of this and that.  I helped Bebe learn to outline an essay (the teacher in me) and worked on Sumner's spelling.  I also watched the Dean Smith Memorial Service at the Dean Dome.  Unless you live under a rock, you know that the greatest basketball coach ever died 2 weeks ago.  I'm a big Tarheel fan, in case you didn't know (the blog title is a hint), and if God would bless me with the lottery I'd be at every game.  I also went to school there while Dean was there.  I must say that I sniffled a bit during the speeches, but I all out boo-hooed when they played the Tarheel Anthem at the end.  They say that Dean couldn't remember much or showed that he remembered much, but when they played the Tarheel Anthem, like they do at the end of each game, that he often smiled like he remembered...if only for a moment.  Bebe peeped at me over the top of her book and asked, "Are you crying?!"  Yes, yes I was.

That's about it for tonight...I'm sure I'll get around to the ol' blog again this week.  Soccer starts up, basketball finishes, baseball will start Sunday, and The Sass is having her tonsils out on Friday!  Oh my!  I'm sure she'll be a sweet little patient...as if.

*toy reassessment - ranges from picking up toys, sneaking toys to the outside trash can that kids don't play with anymore, but won't get rid of on their own, repairing damaged toys, and pulling toys out to consign
