Disney World - Day One

Weekend before last we headed to DISNEY WORLD.  It was sort of a surprise trip from Nana and PawPaw.  We had talked about going in April or May, or even October or November, but we suddenly found the time and I got a text a few weeks ago saying, "Disney is booked!"

Sass caught a ride down with Nana and PawPaw a few hours earlier than the rest of us, so it was a pretty peaceful ride.  I am so thankful Nana took the Sass...I think we kinda owe her big for that one!  We rode down in pouring rain almost the whole trip, but we survived and enjoyed watching the temperature go up every few hours!  It was 30 degrees warmer in Disney than at our house!

So Saturday morning, we hit the Magic Kingdom...just the six of us!  The cousins had arrived the day ahead of us and had already been to the MK and so they had other plans.  The weather was great and we hit all of the top things on our To Do list.

This was sort of "The Sass' Trip" so we really wanted to make sure she did everything she wanted to do...and this was at the top of the list...

ELSA!!!

Here they are doing the Ice Magic pose!
 ANNA!!!
I have no idea what they were talking about,
but Sass was totally enthralled!
While Sass and I were with Anna and Elsa, Jason took the others to ride Space Mountain!  Even Sawyer rode!  Whoo hoo!

After our princess encounter we met everyone over at Tomorrowland Speedway for a quick ride before everyone hopped in a TEACUP!  Gotta do the Teacups!

And then it was on to the classic and never boring Dumbo ride...

Another staple for us is It's A Small World.  I took pictures, but they turned out horrible so I saved your eyeballs the misery and didn't post any.  I did however take a picture of the kids before we went into Mickey's Philharmagic.  I always love this show.  It never gets old.

Then Daddy and the boys stopped to pick up ice cream while I took the girls to meet Ariel.  Sass did not meet Ariel last time we were in Disney (plus she was like 18 months old then) and she was so excited.  She asked her all about Flounder and Sebastian.  And we did find out that Prince Eric was out repairing his ship.  The boys caught up to us while we were in line, but would NOT sit with Ariel.

And then we rode the Barnstormer roller coaster and Dumbo one more time.

One of the kids favorite rides is the Buzz Lightyear ride.  Everyone loves shooting aliens and Zurg in black light-enhanced rooms on a moving conveyor ride with the ability to spin 360 degrees for points, am I right?

We rode the train around the park towards the entrance to get candy and souvenirs when we ran into a secret stopping point with Aurora tucked into a side alley.  There was hardly a line, so we jumped in.  And I must give this Sleeping Beauty kudos.  She was warm, friendly, and super engaging.  She gave lots of hugs, talk time, and didn't seem rushed at all!

Sleeping Beauty (SB)  hugged Sass several times.
*Sass hugged all the princesses so genuinely that it just melts your heart and makes the standing in line so very worth it.

SB spoke with her for a long time.  I love Sass's body language and expression here.

SB took several pictures.  Check out Sass' face!  Such a ham! ha ha

SB convinced Bebe to step in for a photo.  I think she kinda wanted to anyway.
Then SB cooked up a plan...
She grabbed Bebe's hand and snuck around to chase the boys into taking pictures with her!
She moved so quick that this is the only shot I got of the maneuver!  Nothing but curls flying by!  ha ha

Unfortunately, the boys couldn't be convinced...even when she tried to appeal to their egos.  Both boys had on Nike hoodies with a swoosh on the front...and she asked if that "check mark" on their chests was representative of the number of dragons they had slain that day!  Isn't that a cute way to engage boys?!
Nonetheless, Daddy was the only boy she convinced to take the photo!  I'm sure he had to be dragged up there!
We watched the parade.
A great day at Magic Kingdom!

As it turned dark, we headed out and went to the Animal Kingdom Lodge's restaurant Boma for dinner.  It was African-themed with a good buffet, but an even better Ghiradelli chocolate martini! Thank you, Lord!
We met the cousins and Nana and PawPaw there which made it even more fun!  After dinner we went out to the back of hotel for a special treat!  They have a night vision station set up where you can watch the animals using night vision goggles.  The kids enjoyed it.  A great way to end a great day!
