Over the past few months here's some little slices of our lives...
At church we sit behind the nicest group of little ol' ladies that always ooh and aah over the kids and say they're just precious and so happy to see them each Sunday. Well, one Sunday morning during our meet and greet time, this was right before Christmas Eve, one of the ladies was shaking hands with Sass and said, "Have you been good this year? Santa's coming!"
Sass kinda bit her lip, looked around, and said in a sort of whisper, "Well, I might a been a little bit bad."

After hearing (and singing) the Blake Shelton song "Boys 'Round Here", you know the one that says "chew tobacco, chew tobacco, chew tobacco, spit" over and over, Sumner and Sawyer got into some discussion with PawPaw Mason about what "chaw" is and about boys spitting it out. Adding something about boys and baseball and boys and spitting and boys and whatnot. Then PawPaw said, "Girls don't spit".
And without missing a beat...Sumner said with disdain, "Ugh, Sassy does".
*****
One morning...
Sassy: Was I in your tummy when I was little?
Me: Yes.
Sassy: looking perplexed...Well, where was I before that?
Me: curious as to her answer...Do you remember where you were before you were in my tummy?
Sassy: Yes, all babies are in the planets before they're in their mommas' tummies. I remember. There I was in the planets with Jesus. And then I was sent into your tummy.

Going down the road the other day, Sawyer asked a religious question for the ages.
Sawyer: Mommy is Jesus really in your fart?
Me: Excuse me? You mean in your heart? (trying to steer the discussion into the right direction) Yes. Jesus is everywhere.
Sawyer: No. I mean is Jesus in your farts? They say he's everywhere. So, he must be in your farts, too.

Another example of Sumner's growing machismo...
While playing Madden on the XBOX Sumner does quite a bit of talking smack to the screen. Sometimes he likes being the Chargers on an old 2008 version. The other day I overheard his Quentin Jammer-self say this...
"Baker misses the tackle.
Yeah, Baker, you missed it.
What was that?
Are you a baker?
Whatta you work in a bakery or something?
Not working in football today, are ya?
You can't catch me!"
He's so tough! ha ha

When Sass wants to talk all princess-y or grown up she suddenly gets this sort of smooth, French-like accent and uses what can only be called as French-like words.
She'll come up to me and sort of cup my cheek and sweep her delicate hand to my chin and say, "Oh mummy, jah-me beh bella." And then..."Oh dah-ling, je sumeh so beautiful lovey boo vay quay sue-ay."
I don't know what she's saying, but Ima guess she's meaning to be fancy.
