And I've finally witnessed our last first practice. The littlest one has been to her share of practices over the years...hundreds, I'm sure. From watching her sister and brothers practice basketball, soccer, tae kwon do, baseball, and football,...she's seen it all. Letting her play soccer now is a bit early. A season early actually because we don't like them to start before 4, but she's been eager to get out there. Been begging to participate! And she's only a month and a half away from 4.
So finally, it's her turn!
After years and years of waiting, she's on the soccer field. She's on her brothers team, so she's playing up in a U6 league. No baby league for this girl!
Although, I will say about 20 minutes after the above picture was taken...she collided with a little boy on her team and got a tiny scratch on her knee. She cried, said she didn't like "soccah" and was DONE. I coaxed her with gum, a band-aid, and a hug to get back out there. I also posed the threat of not signing her up for dance if she didn't get her hiney out there. She ran like a bullet back on the field to join the team!
Honestly, she's not really loving it like we/she thought she would. I mean she's been begging to get out there, but it's hot lately, practice is in the late afternoons,...and she's not quite yet 4. During the last practice, the kids were scrimmaging and she was on defense. When the other players (about 5 of them) started on a sprint towards her she took off, out of the way, for the sideline! Ha ha She coulda cared less about stopping the ball! All you could see was pigtails a flyin' away from the herd!
We have an extra practice this evening and her first game on the weekend...so here's to hoping she will play with a happy face! Either way...we're proud of her for giving it a try!
