So we packed up in a mad dash and headed west.
We stopped about halfway home, snagged a hotel room, and the kids took to the indoor pool like pigs to a sty...all in! They were already anticipating the hotel breakfast the next morning! Highlight! to any hotel stay in their book! After swimming, we headed to the local theater and caught a flick...Planes: Fire and Rescue. Popcorn and soda for dinner...followed by pizza delivered to the hotel for dessert. It's like a dream!
Day 10, our last day, of vacation, we hit the pool early...before breakfast! Then it was "the choice is yours" hotel breakfast that the kids love! Bagels, fruit and yogurt, danishes, eggs, bacon, waffles...they were little pigs in sties!
After breakfast we loaded up the cars, which were smelling a bit like marine life and had nearly enough sand in them to house small crustaceans, and headed for the local museums. First up, the Science Center!
Just look at my little scientists in the lab...
Sass on the microscope
Daddy and Sawyer running experiments
Sumner looking at a butterfly wing under microsope
Bebe learning how succulents take in water
Hiding out with the bats (up in the tree) and Paw Paw
Aaaackk! We're inside a sharks mouth!
They thought this was so so funny! It is.
Then as the day began to wane...we amped up our efforts and hustled over to the History Museum. We checked out some sports gear from famous people, some Civil War items, an exhibit about how the ol' soda shop in the drug store used to be, and some cool bits from all of the different wars up to present day.
Sign up The Sass!
Or sign up Saw...he'll get 'em!
Maybe sign up Bebe?
Sumner would sign up for his country!
And that evening...after everything closed...we headed home. After 10 days full of excitement we were all ready to hit the hay in our own rooms. I think it was a great trip that the kids will hopefully remember forever! At least the older two...maybe Saw will. I'm guessing that just in case the Littles don't remember we'll have to do it all again in a couple of years!
Special thanks to Nana, PawPaw Mason, Johnny, & Wanda for making this vacation happen! We had a great time!
