Sumner did a project on using patterns to win the game of Battleship. He found that using different types of patterns over just random calling out hits will help you to win the game faster! A quicker strategy for beating his Dad or siblings, if you will!
Bebe used algebra to create ratios, solve proportions to write a scale value with Lego animals. For example she measured a Lego Saddlebred horse and took the average height of a real Saddlebred horse. She then created a ratio to make a proportion...solved for the unknown...and found the scale value. So, in conclusion she found that 1)yes, Lego makes their horse to scale and 2)that the scale is 1:43.
In a very long and dramatic story...that I'm gonna spare you here because it will probably make me angry enough to throw this computer in the lake...she did not place in the top 3 in her category. It was a grievous error on the part of the judges. I have proof, too, and if I get mad enough I may post my evidence on this blog! Anywhoo, we are hoping to go to Regionals. She was told she cannot go represent her school EVEN if the other kids who place do not go! Okay...I'm freakin' livid over that. We have appealed and are awaiting another decision! I mean what kind of school denies a student an awesome educational experience!!!
Sumner on the other hand place first in his category! We are very proud of him and are excited that he can go to Regionals! He did a great job presenting and his whole class lifted him in the air...like a movie scene...when he won first place. How cute and what a great confidence builder!
Y'all...being a mom is soooo hard sometimes! I have had the worst couple of weeks fighting for my kids and what is RIGHT. My brain is mush and I'm starting to question what is wrong with people who have the power to make things happen and hide behind the titles on their doors!! AAAACCKKK!!!
