A Seriously Belated Post - Snow on the Fourth of July

I could've sworn that I posted these pictures already.  Like I just spent 15 minutes looking back through the summer posts looking for it.  Either I posted it in my dreams or it's in a mystery-to-me draft box that I cannot find!  I know I texted it to someone!

Back in February when we had an unusual amount of snow for this area I filled a bowl and an old ice cream container full of snow and stored it in our garage freezer.  At the time the kids didn't really notice and eventually forgot about them at all.  Plus, it's not like they stand often in front of the large freezer debating which type of meat to thaw out for dinner.

Anywho, late morning on the 4th of July it was already like 80 some degrees and I secretly got the bowl and container of snow out and set them on the picnic table.  Then I hollered (cause that's what you do in the South), "Hey!  Look it's snow!"  Of course those nosy nellies came running to see.

At first befuddled, I convinced them to step outside, peer into the bowls, and play in the snow!  They LOVED it!  They threw it in the air and piled it on their heads.  What fun!  What fun!

Then they complained that their hands were freezing and it was hot outside and they went inside.  Fun over.  What, what?!  I'd only saved this since like February!

Oh well...sometimes you're a hit, sometimes not.

*Although I must give Saw credit...he did stay outside a little longer until the snow melted off his noggin'!

Throwing snow...
even though you couldn't really see it.

Still you can't see it very well.

A little blurry, but there's a blizzard in the air.

This one is probably the best for actually seeing
the tossed snow.

Saw shows you how to wear snow on your head...
with attitude.

Okay...now I think I can let summer officially go.

RIP summer.

I mean this is the first official day of autumn!
