It's Always a Good Day When You Can Embarrass Your Kids (That's Why We Have Them, Right?)

Okay, don't look ahead yet...

On the last night of Bebe's volleyball practice her coach decided to have a Parent vs. Kid scrimmage.

The plan: drop your kids off for practice and then we'll have a game the last 45 minutes.  It sounded like fun, so I was all in.  And I really mean ALL IN.  Bebe was excited.  We threw digs, jabs, and talked a little smack all week.  A whole lotta "You're going down" was thrown around.

What she didn't know was that I had talked to some other parents about really showing up for the game...or should I say showing out.  During games, the girls wear an orange volleyball tee, black shorts, and tall black socks.  So, I told everyone to pick a college team (or color) and dress up for the game like the girls normally would.

I decided to go with the Tarheels theme, since I already own a bazillion pieces of clothing with the logo on it.  I wore a Tarheels tee, shorts, and stole a pair of the boys soccer socks in a lovely shade of Carolina blue.  While that would've embarrassed Bebe some...I took it a step further.  I wanted her to know I was coming to play some serious volleyball.

When I walked into the gym the girls (and some of the parents) started staring and laughing.  I heard a few..."That's perfect"..."Awesome outfit" from the parents.  A whole lotta "What in the world?"..."Who's that?"...and squeals and giggles from the girls...Bebe included.

And that's when the best part...the most awesome part happened.  I heard Bebe exclaim, "Oh no!  That's MY mom!"  She was so embarrassed for about a minute.  And then she giggled and giggled and ran to give me a hug.  She ended up LOVING it.

Did I mention I added a Tarheel wig and a fab blue headband.

This might be the worst picture I've ever taken.  Now that's love for your kid, right!?

(No, Bebe is not part giraffe...she spilled water all over her shirt and pants!
Oh, and Sass had to be in the pic too!)
